Worth checking that the nut on the drop arm is still tight. The arm can waggle up and down making the steering feel woolly if it’s not tight

There is a bit of air as the fill hole is about an inch from the side of the drum. If it was completely full with no air the drum would probably split in the winter if it froze. It’s 10-12mm steel so it would take a long time to rust through

Panhard rod bushes give you a dead spot around the straight ahead position too. Also I’ve had the drop arm loosen and that makes it woolly too
