    Disco 2 Misfire

...And the winner is.... Despite the interestingly shaped intercooler, I couldn't really see any major leaks which would lose that much boost. So I rang my local landy mechanic to see if he had an intercooler and explained my issue in detail. He said - "fuel pump at a guess". He told me to...

@sierrafery - as you are the 'Oracle' on such matters, what are your thoughts?...

Until I can get the intercooler out to have a proper look, if it is split, would the symptoms be a lack of power after 2500rpm, max speed of 35mph on the flat, if I floor it, it kicks down and maxes out.at 3000rpm and goes no faster? It seems to drive fine up to about 30mph (if a little flat)

    Disco 2 Misfire

New loom fitted, misfire gone, great! However... still no power above 2500rpm or 30mph. I've done some deeper investigation and found oil leaking from the bottom of the intercooler and a nasty bulge in the bottom of it. So, whilst I may have had a harness issue, I must also have had a busted...

    Disco 2 Misfire

Ok, what make did you buy? And replacing that and a good old blast of contact cleaner on the external connector should sort it?

    Disco 2 Misfire

Are we talking about the loom inside the rocker box or the rocker to ECU wiring? Or both?...

    Disco 2 Misfire

Yes, it has got a fair bit of oil around/on it so I did wonder, none at the plug though.

    Disco 2 Misfire

Ok... after thinking my auto gearbox was playing up and changing the oil, and a few test drives later, I'm now 99% sure the gearbox is fine and I have a misfire. It started shuddering at 2500rpm and wouldnt go any faster which made me think it.was clutch slip. After changing the oil, the judder...

Well, half of it is... I now have a new problem to solve...

Disco 2 Here we go again...?

Well.... all done. However... I may have completely mis-diagnosed the problem. Took it for a test drive and the judder I thought was clutch slip is still there. I think the "flare" I had, was actually the gearbox kicking down to try to compensate for lack of power. It won't rev over 2500rpm...

Disco 2 Here we go again...?

Ok, here's the drained oil- You can see the colour on the side of the bowl. It doesn't smell too bad, sort of 'nutty' lol. Now off to get a garden sprayer to refill, as I realised I left mine in the mother in laws shed...

Disco 2 Here we go again...?

I'm doing an oil change today, does it need to be cold to do it or up to working temperature?

Disco 2 Here we go again...?

I'm hoping it's just the oil, I'll be doing it this morning...

Disco 2 Here we go again...?

Thought a while back that my auto gearbox didn't seem quite right. Just didn't feel quite like it was changing up like it should but barely noticeable. Anyway, I thought I should probably do an oil change in the near future but finding the time in my hectic life is always difficult. Earlier...
