Try adding power to the vin and ground to gnd - try pressing the control and see if you can hear the relay click

Looking at the other photos you've added, it may need power on he vcc+ and gnd to gnd....however there's also a IR sensor there, so where are you going to be putting this?

It confirms they're connected. Have you got a multimeter? Its the mode that usually beeps if you touch the two test probes together. If you don't have one, go and get one ;)

We'll see....the guy only had two for sale, however they were 1.5 m lengths, so I have three meters of repair pieces....I noticed quite a lot on ebay were 80cm pieces.... I'll try and do some photos at the same time

They were yrm pieces, got them on eBay, guy had bought them and then sold the landy......look fine, just need to get cutting and welding now.....likely a few weeks time though

For what? Your gearbox or transfer box? If transfer box then it seems most are the same - Ashcroft Transmissions

99% sure that's the serialnumber of your transfer box, not gear box.

How is it you're doing it then? You're using your 1989 loom with the td5 dash? If so, you should be able to work out which cable did what on the old one, as the connector to lights is just metal running between the two (i think) - on the back of the 1989 dash. If you're doingit the...

I did a temp fix with bathroom sealent....fixed the problem, will take a look at other methods when I redo the roof at some point

You need to take the grab handle and window winder off. I also take the door release and carefully take off the pop up lock thing then ease it off around the edge. Once you do that those fixings can be taken off and reattached

Couldn't you add a starter relay? Would mean less current travelling through your ignition, which should extend the life of it.

Pretty sure it's part of the chassis. Since you'd be welding it on, I'd imagine just a piece of metal with a hole would be sufficient? May be wrong, though....
