CB fitted today, worked straight the way and got a great SWR readying. Got a 10 mile distance! A bit frustraiting about the other but has given me a big lesson in never to get a second hand CB! Cheers!

It sounds like your a CB genius for sure. Is it possible for the lead to only receive rather than transmit though, as we are able to hear coversations clearly, when they are in range.

Oh no :( thats not cool. Sounds expensive! We are going to see if our earthing is okay to the roof tomorrow and if that doesnt work, I will seek help for sure.

Yes its switched to FWR, and we have just bought a brand new SWR (number 2 swr that is)

We followed the instructions to the dot and when we key the mike the SWR metre needle does not move at all. There is a coax wire from the antenna mount, to the SWR "ANT" and then to from the SWR to the CB radio. (if that makes sense)

Hello James, Its good to see someone else from Bicester! It may be good if we can get your CB expertese. The car is currently over in Tring near Aylesbury but will prob be over here towards the end of the week. The SWR metre wont work, so we think something must be wrong with out setup but...

Hello, Just thought I would update. We now definitly know that we can transmit, we made contact with a trucker approx 15 miles away. However we still cannot get the SWR metre to work. The guy said that he was unable to hear us very well but we could hear him clear as a whistle. Just wondered...

That is the guide which we have been following when setting up our CB radio. We did not want to speak back to the people on channel 19 as we were told it may damage our CB if the antenna was not tuned properly? Is this correct? New SWR should be with me tomorrow, so we shall see!

I dont think the set is knackered, seems alrite and the bloke I bought it from seemed nice also, confirming it was okay. The speaker does go silent when I key the mike, but there is no movement from the SWR metre. We are getting a new one sorted and hoping that sorts the problems, but having...
