check that the speaker cones are not seized by applying gentle pressure and see if they move in and out by 5mm or so, if they don't they will need replacing

Yes... I had a problem with the contacts on the boot speaker but I had to replace 3 of the 4 door speakers due to the cones seizing, I am trying to find out if Rover solved the problem of the speaker magnet to basket adhesive disintegrating.

Did you solve the speaker problem ? If the sound from the 6" speaker is weak and only high fequency it's my bet is that the speaker cone is jammed which is caused by the magnet moving and jamming the speech coil (magnet to basket adhesive failure)

Never used this site before so I don't know if this is the correct way to reply, but here goes....Check that the speaker cones move in by aplying gentle pressure to them if they don't move say 5mm or so it's a good bet that the speaker magnet has become detatched and is jamming the speech coil...
