is it possible to test an unfitted alternator?

Hello, This is slightly off the Landy topic but I have adopted the problems of my 17 year old sons classic mini! We changed the alternator because it was rough as a badgers arse and the bearings where shot and in general it had seen better days but it was working it just screamed constantly...

running diff lock in snow, this ok?

I take a lot of backroads on the way home to miss rush hour traffic and when there is snow covering the road I put the landy into diff lock. I have a 2004 Td5 110. Is it ok to run this for considerable mileage, I might have it in diff lock for 10 miles at a time over my 30 mile commute. I...

    loose bonnet out of nowhere!

Just thinking if lifting the bonnet to vertical allows you to remove it, then you would have ot put it back in the same reverse order way. That then means the slot would be facing forwards? So my bushes are in the correctly there is just a hell of a lot of play!

    loose bonnet out of nowhere!

So if you open the bonnet with one person either side and lift it right open 90 degrees vertical the whole thing will just lift out of the hinges? Wow I know understand how they are so easily knicked. I will do this and see what happens. At the moment with the bonnet closed the slot in...

    loose bonnet out of nowhere!

Is there a correct and incorrect way to locate them? If for example they were rotated 180 degrees out of position would they be incorreclty fitted? They look to have a groove in them. Shoud this groove face forward, backward, up or down? Thanks

    loose bonnet out of nowhere!

Hello, After many miles of head scratching and stopping in laybyes ive pinpointed the big rattle to the bonnet hinges. The hinge fitted to bonnet is tight and the other half of the hinge fixed to the bulkhead is secure. There is however a huge amount of play where the hinges locate in each...

ISO - DIN for stereo upgrade adapter?

Happy new year to all. Santa brought me a basic Alpine head unit so I can listen to these new fangled CD things in the Landy. The Landy has a 90 degree female antenna connector which goes onto my current original cassette unit but my Alpine unit has what I think is normal a deep female...

    Central locking, argggggggggggggh!!!

I am having consistent problems with the central locking on my 2004 TD5 110 County. I read if the battery in the key fob is going it will only open every second push and it seems better since i put a new batt in. But the lock buttons inside the cab sometimes stick. I have lubed them with...

is changing Td5 rocker cover gasket easy?

presume I should use an original land rover part for the new gasket? When you get original parts from Britpart is that the same as buying them from a land rover dealer?

is changing Td5 rocker cover gasket easy?

Had my Td5 in to local dealer for new wiper motor and mechanism under warranty and while in they did a free health check. Apparantly my rocker cover gasket is leaking. It looks like a simple case of removing engine cover, remove bolts, rocker cover and old gasket and replace everything...

Do I need ISO adapter for Stereo upgrade. Td5.

Im looking to replace the tape player in my 2004 Td5 with a cheap Alpine CD/Wireless. I see Mudstuff sell ISO adapters but do I need one? The connector block that is part of the loom on my vehicle has round plugs but taped to the loom also is a rectangular connector roughly 10mm x 30mm...

Is the 2.4 Puma a better road Defender than TD5?

well theres enough pro Td5 comments there for me, also not keen on the 'new' look of the puma with bonnet bump etc even I look and think, mmmm your a modern Fender driver, but then maybe 200 and 300 drivers think that way about the Td5. Anyway that means I have the money from my van burning a...

Is the 2.4 Puma a better road Defender than TD5?

I have a 2004 110 Td5 CSW for various reasons, towing caravan, trailer, carrying lots of kids, winter etc and a big reason is as a depreciation buster over more car like 4x4's. I end up in fields, forests etc with it but Im never going to have it up to its windows in water etc and I do spend a...

    centre box or not

If your correct then and im not doubting you. Isnt it something you almost must do. £50 cat replacement pipe, bit more power and better feeling on the throttle and possibly improved mpg? What about removing silencers, centre box for example would that give you any issues with MOT?
