Is it easy to find which lanes are legal and which are not?

Ramblers have very clear views on off roaders and ive seen quite a few documentaries which shock me to be honest but I cant seem to find much information on the off roaders side of things... where better to look than at the heart of it, the users!

I didnt think of it that way but I can assure you im not :) you dont have to give personal details just experiences youve had...eg, if youve ever encountered locals who go mental on you even thought youre on a legal road?
