A woodwork vice would be safer, clamp it lightly and heat with a heatgun, clamping tighter as it softens, protect it from marking with two pieces of silicone like soldering mat material, then leave it clamped until it cools completely, just an idea.

Strange one that, I would have thought the only way they could fail, is, they were leaking or broken (mountings).

Don't think that's gonna work, the glass is encased in plastic with the element built in, it attaches with a clip on the back that, usually breaks when prising off the old one, if you get the correct one be sure to order a clip as well.

I would drop the sump anyway, bound to be a bit of swarf in there even, drilling carefully.

Optikool glass has a green tint, supposed to stop the heat of the sun, can't say I ever noticed any difference but, in hot weather the aircon was on anyway.

That amp is no more powerful than my Sony headunit specced at 55w x4, it is fused at 10amp, the rms value is more like 17.5w x4, or 35w x2 in the case of the amp, 2.5mm wires will be fine.

Mine also did it occasionally but, I found a way of stopping it, I would let it settle for a few seconds before switching off and it didn't do it, I just forgot about it then, realised it wasn't doing it anymore, I would return to the airport car park after 2 weeks away and find it hadn't...
