no hes checked the hg and its fine the 250 is to flush rad replace and re bleed coolant system and full service inc new plus filters etc

i have 1999 t reg 18.petrol that has started to do the same thing again cant drive any longer than to work and back approx 18 miles each way otherwise suddenly loses power and finally dies wait 10 mins and it goes again for about 5 mins before stopping again...suddenly noticed it is going...

yea hopefully..i changed thermostat after we broke down and advised change it if rad still freezing then have it flushed to see if it helps as fan don't come on either but top up coolant weekly garage did the tests all came back fine said was prob just due to not going via radiator to keep cool...

not that you would notice check it weekly and not needed to top up since last time stays around middle dipstick when checked cold

Easy if you know how to fit Ewp lol mite just get a blanking plate when can afford it but do other one first till then just in case end up needing a second hand rad

cheers.final question when i remove the stat what do i replace to form a seal is just the casing rather than the inner workings.

not sure if the one at the rear has been removed or not as i say not mechanically minded..dont know how to tell if grey casing or not how do i tell the thermostat was a horrible brown colour when i took it of and swapped for a brnad new one.

yea its had the mod done that was the thermostat i changed today the old one let water flow constant both hot and cold was told this was stuffed hence a brand new one

tried that sprayed out and was hot didnt dribble out.engine temp takes about 5-10 mins to show on gauge half way

yea bottom hose is cold top hose red hot and rad cold..is there a check to see if water pump and is this a garage job

water comes from the bleed screw under pressure when i bled the system..the top hoses are to hot to touch.but the rad is completely cold . im in wigan wn3 6eg

:( After swapping the thermostat on my 1999 1,8 petrol freelander on advice of RAC drained and bled the system only to find that the radiator is still freezing and the fan dont kick in..the landy didnt have a HGF as he did all the tests for me his advice was poss thermostat and or blocked...

thanks will give it a go during the week if it ever stops raining
