I bought a ruville water pump from my local motor factors for £48 and had it fitted for £50 labour charge. A new thermostat and housing was fitted too (£20 from ebay). Ruville pumps are made by the same company that make LUK clutches, and are excellent quality. I agree with pardec on the labour...

I had the same problem and bought a used Alko handle off eBay, its great. You should also change your towball, for one with an extended neck, as the standard towball is unsafe to use with the alko stabilising hitch. Check it out on the internet. I hope this bit of info will be of some help to you.

I chickened out and had the job done for me. I scrapped the britpart pump and bought a ruville pump, what a difference in quality. I also had the clutch changed while while it was in the workshop.

I had the same symptoms and it got worse. I had the clutch and flywheel changed this week. It was an expensive job because of the flywheel, but worth it to me. Good luck.

I bit the bullet this week and had a new clutch and flywheel fitted. The clutch had been slipping for a while, but it got steadily worse over the past few weeks. I also had a new water pump and thermostat fitted while it was in the workshop. All good so far, any nonsense I'll let you know

The pump that I bought is a Britpart pump, and I don't know whether to fit it or get a better make. I've seen one online made by Fahren at a reasonable price, but don't know much about this brand. Any info appreciated thanks.

How on earth do you get at the pump bolts. Will the engine mounts have to come off to give a bit more room?

Yes Nodge it's a TD4. I've got a pump and thermostat, and I've been reading a guide someone posted online, but it seems a nightmare of a job to change everything. There's not much room to get at the pump bolts, that's why I hoped the pipe could be moved, to change the o ring only.
