Key not working in ignition - Security issue???

Thanks Hippo, But it literally felt like there was a pin stopping the ignition from turning. And.. the Steering lock was not engaged. I did contemplate turning the steering wheel until it locked and pull the wheel to the left to release it etc... But after 5 mins, all ok... WTF

Help identifying a dropped liner please

My best geuss is it's one of the 8 at fault :( Just put the heads on a surface plate at work with some engineers blue and it looks ok - both heads covered quite nicely once we took some high points off at the edges. So now its back to the block. Ho Hum.

Help identifying a dropped liner please

Mine's the serpentine belt. I've flushed the rad, its had a new waterpump, top hose, thermostat & expansion bottle and it still boils up. It seems to be when you rev the engine to 2500 / 3000 rpm and it starts to overheat.

Help identifying a dropped liner please

Thanks, thats where all the roads are leading to. As I need it running by the end of the month, I will probably put a replacement engine in and get this one sorted over winter. Anyone got a 3.9 V8 engine in NE england that will last for a few months. Just a thought, if I fitted the...

    Can lpg cause overheating

Thanks, the rest is fine. Underneath is solid, no plates; only minor bits needed, like sunroof seal (found that out on saturday and today - but thats another story), gear bias plate, slight repair needed to drivers seat, etc. For a 1999 / 2000 its in good condition. To be fair when I bought...

    Can lpg cause overheating

Fett LOL. Kseal worked for about 10 miles, but once I accelorated above 2000 rpm, then up the temp went. My wife has gone tangental and wants it sold (money pit etc etc). I said, next step heads off, if it looks ok then replace gaskets if look for an engine. So.. this week, heads off...

    Can lpg cause overheating

Hi Sassanach, Yes, hot all over. The hot water moved down the headder then across the tubes. Since then, I took some other advice and yesterday went to my local MOT garage and he put the sniffer in the header tank and yes the reading rose, we stopped it at 2150 ppm. So head gasket failure...

    Can lpg cause overheating

Yes, but its the way they have run the heating pipework i'm wondering. They have tee'd in to the heater connections on the flow & return after the metal pipework and the two hoses rise behind the engine then drop to the vapouriser then rise to botom connections. With no bleed points. The...

    Can lpg cause overheating

Thanks Deasy, Good idea, I'll remove the LPG heating pipework and put it back to standard and if no overheating then look at the LPG further. Just some times you need to put pen to paper and ask for help to see your next step. Dave

Hi One and All - new member in Durham

Let me introduce myself; my name is Dave (as you can guess by the login) and at the age of 52, I've just bought my first Landy. Its a 2000 Discovery GS V8 with LPG. We (my wife who puts up with my son Callum's and my constant car banter) looked at it on eBay and after a great meeting with...
