its also illegal under construction and use in the road traffic act. all vehicles propelled by an internal combustion must be fitted with a silencer. it might get through an MOT, as all it has to do to pass is not leak or be excessively noisy, but if you get stopped you will get knicked.

ive got a 200tdi conversion and they are louder than normal, that said mine makes a terrible noise (read gearbox/bell housing noise) under load, still pulls like a train though and im suspecting a damaged clutch. ( i hope its not) its recently had a new exhaust system fitted to make it road...

just done mine with adrian flux and its a 85' and needed classic insurance other companies wouldnt insure it. alot of faffin about though with suspension mods and i had to fit a cat 1 alarm. NOT CHEAP!! but with no claims it was 360.00 quid
