    Death Wobble Persistant issue

OK, a few years later but another update! The death wobble returned in 2016. Did a quick review of all the front steering and suspension mechanical parts for play and nothing found amiss. Steering pressure hose however found wet and was replaced. The system was bleed and the wobble went away...

    Engine Overheating with AC on

Follow up: Issue resolved. I removed the water pump and inspected it, nothing found apart from corroded long pump bolts. Bolts cleaned, greased and pump refitted with new gasket. Investigated autobox intermittent overheat light, switch found contaminated with water from draining radiator...

power steering pulley out of line HELP!!

Hi, Some of the steering pumps available have changed shape, they can be quite difficult to get in and out of the housing. Make sure that you locate the exact angle of the connectors before removing them or the hoses, make sure they go back in the same position or you will run out of expletives...

    injection pump

New solenoid is about 10 quid, newly overhauled pump about 600 quid. Check carefully! The 300tdi turbo solenoid is a bit of a bugger to get off as it has anti tampering cover on it! I think it may be quicker to take the pump off to replace it if it is this type ( appears square or rectangular...

Ok, now don't laugh - but.....

Hi, You could perhaps unscrew the banjo stud and replace with a more usual banjo bolt, its probably a course thread in alloy, maybe a 12 x 1.75mm.

    Cambelt Woes

Hi, There is slight adjustment at the fuel pump sprocket, it does not have to be out a whole tooth. It is tricky to get exactly right if you do not have the proper alignment tools. Take it back and explain the issue. The knocking may be fuel ignition not mechanical, don't worry too much about...

    98 disco 1 front brakes.

Hi Pete1984, I would go with the long if not sure, as they should do the job anyway and there is nothing for them to catch on if protruding slightly. To be honest they are cheap and not really worth the effort unless you love doing everything yourself.

    Turner performance Cylinder Head

Hi, I do not have any info on the Turner head, but I replaced my head about 4 yrs ago with a new standard head from Paddocks, about 300 pounds at the time. It is made by AMC (Spain I think), this has done about 70,000K with no problems until I had an overheat recently caused by a core plug...

Slow Coolant Leak 300 Tdi... Any Ideas

Hi, Been there done that! Exactly the same happened to me. Then within a few months the new water pump failed due to crap bearing. Sorry, only just read your post. I did notice in your pics that the other core plug visible appeared to be quite new. If one has gone they are usually all very...

    diesel flow rate

Hi, Suggest that you test the heater plugs if not already done. Is there smoke coming out of exhaust when you try to start? Also have you interfered with the fuel pump throttle plate at all? The plate is splined onto the pump main throttle control and connects to the accelerator cable, it must...

    Engine Overheating with AC on

Hi, I am after some suggestions as to what could cause the following issue; after starting my engine it warms up and runs OK, but if I put my AC on it will start to get very hot after a few miles. It does not appear to be related to speed as happens in a traffic jam or at 60 mph. Also the auto...

    fuel engine stalling???

Hi serious1, Where is the bleed nipple located that you refer to? In my experience the lift pump may fail but you will not notice unless you break into the fuel delivery system, i.e. change the filter, then the engine will not start. If your pump has a mechanical lift lever on the side make...

    Disco Misbehaving.

Hi, Don't be mislead by apparent water vapour in exhaust, it depends on atmospheric conditions, if there is much or not. Running really rich will give water vapour in exhaust under certain conditions. Suggest you do a pressure test of cooling system. Here is how I made my own tester ... Get a...

    Death Wobble Persistant issue

Hi All, I don't know if anyone will see this update, but I thought it important to add some final closure. Not long after the last post the wobble came back, it was not so bad, so I changed the shocks again and fitted old man emu items. These felt great and the wobble all but disappeared for a...

    Cambelt Change

Hi, Not sure on your model, but following is for 300TDI. Its not an easy job as special tools required to align crank shaft and fuel pump and lots of muscle required for Crank Shaft pulley bolt. To help cut down on future maintenance bills, I would recommend changing water pump and all drive...

    Death Wobble Persistant issue

Just like to say a big thanks to all who have posted replies to my issue. Lots of good advice was given and any one with a similar problem should be able to fix it by reviewing this thread. I think that there is possibly a lesson to be learned about buying non OEM parts such as Shocks and...

    My Opinion of Paddock Spares

I have been using Paddocks for about five years and they have been fine. They have delivered parts to the other side of the world for myself and friends living in Brunei,(Borneo) there have only been a few minor mistakes in that time. They do supply some poor quality stuff as well as good...

    Death Wobble Persistant issue

Hi Johnlad, Yes I did prime the shocks by fully compressing and extending about 6 times. I also diid this with the previous shocks I fitted. The car has been improving over the last two weeks and I can no longer detect any wobble or vibration at any speed. Great at long last.

    Death Wobble Persistant issue

Sorry for the slow update, I have been away for a while.... I changed the Panhard rod bushes to urethane items, the old ones were not worn or soft. I then took the car for a run and it felt no different. Over the next week the car began to feel better with a noticeable change to the...

    Death Wobble Persistant issue

Update: Fitted new Monroe shocks last weekend. Car immediately felt better, took it over bumps which normally cause wobble and car felt good. However, during the week it has started to return, today 7 days later the wobble is back! Next plan is to replace Packard rod bushes with poly which was...
