Think im going to have a look under the bonnet of another td5 owner whilst away camping next week as there's bound to be another on camp site lol,had another look today and ive already got a black plug connected in that location,maybe take the engine top cover off and have a look under there...

Thinking of doing an oil change on mine too, but what about if you dont know what oil has been used before as im not going to be able to get all the old stuff out...

Cheers for that Paul,is it best i re-connect it or does it not realy matter as i know a few on here who have done away with the EGR altogeather...

Found this plug loose under the bonnet whilst having a little check over,looks like its been disconnected for some time but does anybody know what its for and should it be attached to anything,its a 1999 disco2 td5...

Hi Shifty been on me hols so not been around,anyway engine was purchased through my bro in laws place of work with a bit of discount special to him lol,should have cost i think £3600 inc vat but he managed to get it for £3000 inc vat,ive also had a new thermostat fitted and a new radiator too...

Cheers Shifty, ive gone down the ivorsearle route with a remanufactured engine and the head fitted on there unit is the AMC item which i believe are far better than land rovers own heads...

engine has been pulled and flipped today,sump off and its bad news,so im looking at a recon unit now rather than a rebuild :mad:

Well had a productive day today and got alot done,well not me i have a fractured arm lol but my bro in law has diagnosed the knocking as the bottom end :( and the lump is nearly ready to be pulled from the engine bay,two choices secondhand lump where you dont realy know what your getting and...
