Well it turns out you can't simply swap the tensioner and crank pulley for the newer ones. Apparently they protrude more than the old ones, and therefore a revised timing case cover is needed as well in order for them to fit correctly! The kit was just over £100, so I thought feck that and...

Hi there, I've had a look through the old threads and couldn't find much advice on this, so here goes.. I'm having real trouble removing the old front crankshaft oil seal from my 1996 Discovery 300Tdi! Note that I am not referring to the crankshaft O-ring, but to the seal shown in the image...

I think I'll just fit a new belt and check it in a few weeks time to make sure everything's alright.

Mine's exactly the same, around 20mpg and no power. My one is especially gutless when cold though..
