I think I have it, I made sure the CV joint was properly located and torqued it all up. Still couldn't move the half shaft around, or turn it by hand but all seems fine with the wheel on when I spin that. It's just harder to spin than the other side!

Yeah that's what I normally do but with the spindle bolted down, the half shaft won't budge. I'm going to investigate the previous suggestions later today, namely ensuring the CV joint is housed properly. Hope I haven't knackered anything up by tightening it!!

I haven't changed the stub axle or cv so I'm assuming it's the original one, should be right.

Ah ok, so try and pull the cv joint into the spindle housing before fitting it? I think that's what you're both saying right?
