Dirty disco was the engine running ok, when it was stored away 3 years ago, just wondering if there is the possibility of the timing being out on the injector pump.

I think the pump has been adjusted before i bought the vehicle, the engine also had a new head before i bought it.

I know that new injectors are very expensive, what sort of cost is it to have them refurbished? i am not too worried about the wait because i have the engine out and the vehicle off the road. Also is it the carbon deposit that acts as an abrasive on the pistons that will burn them out? cheers.

James would it be worth putting some injector cleaner through the engine when i have got it running again, or is this stuff not very effective?

Ey up took head off the other day, there is a fair bit of carbon build up on the top of the heads, also beneath a couple of the valves it was a bit oily, is this normal or does it show that there could be wear on the piston rings. Also included is a picture of a damaged cam roller follower...

Have a good look at the bulkhead, check that there isnt rot hidden behind carpets, i have just finished repairing my bulkhead and the worst of the rot was at the top of the footwells behind the dash so wasn't apparent until i had a good look under there.

No i havent got the crank pulley off yet waiting for a 30mm socket for impact wrench to get dog nut off, if that comes off i have got a proper puller for the crank pulley. The manual i have is the big fat white landrover one. Also been looking at trailer fittters videos about changing timing...

That is some tidy wiring there discomania, are you putting that on because you plan on going wading, or just cause there more reliable than the bullet connectors?
