yeah it's got a ballest resistor on. This is connected to the + sorry bad wording earlier. One of the coils I tried got too hot to touch.

what do you mean by "hot wire" 3am 5am? I'm more of a defender Guy but got this as a work horse.

Forgot to mention... One of the coils got so hot I couldn't hold it. At this point I triple checked the wiring to it and could not find anything a miss.

Hi. Iv'e got 9 volts at the coil with a fully charged battery. I'm not getting any spark at the plugs, I've taken one out and tried (kept plug grounded) I've put an extra earth strap on the engine, even though I had good continuity. why-o-why can't this be as simple as my Defender V8 on SU carbs!!!

Re-crimped all the connections and made sure the HT leads are located correctly. I've triple checked, then triple checked the ignition timing again (even if out should at least spark) Really cracking me up now. :mad:

Hi guys. Can anybody help me before I tear my hair out??? Iv'e got a 99 3.9 v8 disco auto with gas. Iv'e searched the forum for this issue but none of the issue describe mine. The engine is turning over but Iv'e got no spark!! Iv'e got voltage at the coil. Iv'e replaced.. DIZZY x2 COIL x3...

I could do with a set of techno, but cant I justify buying a set yet. Plus I need the rear 60/40 set too. How much were you asking?

Had the Lynx plugged in, and yes all functions are there. Rick said a 7 had appeared and sent the BECM crazy.

Well The ECM and BECM came back today. First I'd like to thank everyone for their input and help! Especially to the people who recommended "rickthepick", The guy is a genius! The P38 sprung into life on the first flick of the key. Just come back from the test drive and she's running beautiful...

The BeCm and ECM are away with rickthepick at the moment. He found the fault with it, hence the reason my Lynx was playing silly buggers. He said with this fault the Syncmate would not have worked.

It's not looking good is it? :(

I all. I'm after a linkage for my SU carbed V8. I sent them off to be cleaned and think this one went missing. If anybody has a spare one I'd be over the moon! if not, a full HIFF 44 SU carb will do. It's Part number #34

Yeah the Lynx will give you instructions for key position and will not proceed until its happy that the keys is in the right position.

Totally agree I wouldn't recommend the Lynx for the P38. I was going to wait for the Syncmate, but if it didn't work it'd be a few more days and I really need the car at the moment.

I understand what you are saying Wammers. But there is no physical box form me to input any codes into. All what i can access is highlighted - and all I get highlighted is "ADVANCED" but as soon as this is pressed.. the good old "LOCKED" is flashing up again.

That is exactly what I was doing. "DIAGNOSTIC MODE" was coming up on the dash with the ignition off. I then go into the Becm menu to which i cannot proceed to do any codes. All codes are coming up as "LOCKED" when trying to access.

Its all packed up and off to RickthePick. Its locked down so my Lynx wont have worked.
