There are no drip marks on the drive, that's what is a mystery. The engine oil is normal, no mayo, etc. Do I need special coolant (red as mentioned) or will regular coolant (blue) be okay? Thanks for your help so far, much appreciated.

It's like a hard plastic, not a foam. I can't find the other half. Do you think it has something to do with losing coolant as much as I am doing?

I found it on the top of the panel that protects the underside of the engine, down in the depths!! I had the head gasket done about 40k ago, could it be a possibilty that it's gone again? Not liking the sound of this!!
