    P38 manual inflation advice

yes but why should one side front need so much more pressure than the other? I brought the pressure in each bag up evenly and ended up with nearly twice the pressure in off side front as in near side. Must be a heavy steering box:)

    P38 manual inflation advice

I rigged up manual inflation to each bag when looking for an elusive leak. I noticed that it takes almost 80 psi to lift the drivers side front to about 470 mm, yet it takes less than 50 for the other side front. They are both new air bags and in an act of desperation and to prove a point I...

    EAS unlocking tool

Hi Grfromleeds With the Vista set up the idle light was red and occasionally flickering green. When connected to the Windows 7 machine it showed solid green and connected straight away. Still thinking about the tablet option but might be better to keep an old laptop or desktop for the rare (...

    EAS unlocking tool

Following sound advice from Datatek I tried the set up on a different laptop and it worked first time. My laptop has Vista which apparently is troublesome when using this sort of thing. The borrowed one which was successful was Windows 7. This might be a silly question but I wonder if the...

    EAS unlocking tool

Just wondering if anyone has tried the EAS Diagnostic cable and EASsuite kicker? I thought it was worth a punt for a little under £20 on Ebay but after 2 days of fiddling with it and changing com ports etc it still won't unlock the EAS. I can see loads of faults and the Tx and Rx columns seem to...

    P38 door lock saga

Hi Trevor I bought my RF receiver from my local Land Rover specialist ( about £160 )and just swapped it with the original. It worked straight away and touch wood 18 months or so later and no more burned out locks. I went through 2 sets during my learning curve so an expensive lesson. Good luck...

    Blender motor blues

Hi Lizalandy I didn't have the time or the courage to do the dash out routine so I took the footwell side panels, radio and upper switch panel, instrument binacle and surround out as detailed in the internet article on blend motor relacement. Not too bad really just bits of plastic but a bit...

    Blender motor blues

Update on Blend Blues. Removed all the relevant bits including the air distribution blend motor or servo and didn't have to mangle the plastic ducting at all, just sort of push it out of the way to get to the far screw on the motor. The mechanism seemed pretty stiff so I went for the self...

    Blender motor blues

Thanks for thr quick reply. Sorry I didn't make it clear in my post but it's still the original motor that's on I didn't see the point of hacking into the trunking to change it when it appears to be working. Maybe a trip to my local specialist would be a good idea to get the diadnostics done...

    Blender motor blues

Hi All Every winter for the past 3 or 4 years the textbook symbol appears on the heater control panel of my P38 and the flaps seem to stick in one position. Then in the Spring it all returns to normal. I suspect that this is just another silly trick that the car plays on me for some unknown...

    Brake fluid level switch replacement.

Hi All My P38 brake fluid low level switch seems to have given up the ghost with the alarm coming up even though fluid level was fine. I disconnected the cable to the switch and linked the two wires together which made the annoying bleep and red light go away. Question now is can I remove the...

    P38 door lock saga

Hi Gib I replaced both locks ( for the second time ) and this time I repaced the RF receiver as well. Touch wood no problems. It took a while to build a bit of confidence and I expected it to misbehave again but so far so good. To be honest I forgot about sourcing the lock motors but I believe...

    An odd electrical/alarm problem?

Hi Nick I had the same problem twice (see P38 Door Lock saga ). mine turned out to be burned out door lock actuators caused by a faulty R/F reciever. hopefully yours might be something different because mine cost a bit to fix. £300 for door locks and £180 for a receiver. Worse than that I had...

    Sidelights flash when locking .

Thanks for the advice and peace of mind guys. Faultmate eh? is that something that's worth looking into for the enthusiastic owner or more for a specialist? Thanks again for the offer Dougdotcom much apreciated. Pete.

    Sidelights flash when locking .

My P38 has decided to flash the sidelights instead of the indicators when I lock or unlock the doors. This latest part of a grand plan to drive me to distraction  started after the battery was disconnected for a few days. No doubt I can live with it but I wonder what it means. Probably...

    P38 Door jammed, be prepared?

As you say Irishrover the max length for the bolts is about 15 or 20mm. in fact I did a dry run today and you have a  of a job to get a spanner in anyway so the idea may be a non starter. I changed the bolts anyway for shorter hex headed ones thinking that if I took the back door off I...

    P38 Door jammed, be prepared?

Being a long term P38 owner I've become a bit of a pessamist and wonder how long it will be before one of the front doors will jam shut. Reading some of the stories in this forum about methods of opening the door I wonder if there is an easy way to prepare for this eventuality. If the two torx...

    Can I disable R/F receiver?

Having gone through the famous P38 door lock burning out saga I have 2 new locks (for the second time) a new r/f receiver and not much confidence that it won't happen again. Does anyone know if I can somehow break the connection between the door locks and whatever it is that keeps attacking...
