    Smokey 200TDi

Hmmm, Not likely to be a lack of oil as it has a full service history which matches the mileage so the oil would have been changed at each service one would hope. Not sure what the problem is. I thought white smoke could mean water in which case i was thinking a head gasket. The bloke did isay...

    Smokey 200TDi

Not done that many. Hot 93,000 on the clock and it matches the service history details so i think it is genuine.

    Smokey 200TDi

Hi, I went tohave a look at a Discovery last night. It's an L reg and the bodywork and chasis are in exceptionally good condition. However, the 200TDi engine is very smokey when running. The smoke is mainly white although it does go slightly blue after about 5mins of running. It smelt very...

    In the ****!

Oh Dear, Not just the cills. The rear wheel arches are completely f**ked too. Does anyone know how to replace these? Do you have to chop out the original ones and where do you chop to? I'm asuming it is quite involved. Would it be better to get someone to do it? If so does anyone know anyone who...

    Rotten cills

Floor's already been replace fortunately. WHy they didn't do the cills i don't know!! Do you just strip the old sills off and weld the box section to the chasis and then weld the floor onto that? I take it there are no structural mounts off the cills. Like i say i know very little about...

    Rotten cills

Hi My mate has just gone and got himself a nice old 200tdi which he claimed was in good knick. On closer inspection it would appear that the cills are completely gone. I am a Series boy and have very little knowledge of discos and what can and can't be done t o them. Is there any chance that...

    MOT time again!

I'm not after someone to issue a dodgy MOT at all. All i am after is a consistant level of interprtation. Ok if the footwells are structural thats fine i'll do the welding. There is no way that the pipes were rotten. I admit that they were dirty and not shiny but not rotten. I saw him pulling...

    MOT time again!

Well it did fail!! Not on the bit of rot on the door pillar but a small bit of rot in the footwell which is about 2" square. He knocked it through with his hammer which is fair i suppose. I didn't think the footwells were structural but he rockoned that as it was with 30cm of a body mounting...

    MOT time again!

Just a time factor at the moment. I want to get the landy MOT, taxed and insured so that i can move it to a new location as i'm moving house. You can come round and fix it if you've got some spare time!! I'm sure you know how involved moving house is.

    MOT time again!

Hi, Does anyone know of a land rover 'friendly' or sympathetic MOT centre in or around Derby? THe MOT is due and there are a few bits which i'm sure shouldn't be the way they are but anyone who has a landy will know about that!! I'm only talking little things like a small bit of rust about the...

    Diff options

Cross axeled is when the front nearside is in a dip and the off side is raised and the opposite is happening on the back axle so your offside is in a dip and the nearside is raised. This means that both diffs are spinning due to one wheel being of the ground and the drive being delivered to the...

    Diff options

Hi, I was at an off road event in an old quarry and was tackling a rather steep incline with a slight possiblilty of getting cross axled. To try and prevent this from happening i approached at a slight angle which put my rear off side into a bowl earlier than the nearside. The approach was...

    Diff options

Are you suggesting the egine will not have enough power to cope with the higher ratio? It's something i hadn't thought about actually but you could have a point. Can you think of any other options of fitting a more substantial diff? This is the second rear one I have blown and I'm not doing...

    Diff options

Are they a straight swap? Same ratio or will i need to switch the front too? Also i assume you need a full new axle what with the casings being different?

    Diff options

Yeah, I know the halfshafts will be longer but i think you can shortened ones specially done for the job.

    Diff options

Hello, I've blown up the rear diff on my series III this weekend. I'm contemplating what i should do: whether to replace it with a standard series !!! diff or look at putting a range rover diff in and swapping the half shafts and front diff while I am at it. I was wondering what the groups...

Series III deisel and bio fuel

So if these are replaced it should be fine to use it? Also I know there may be tax implications but has anyone run on paraffin. I've heard it will clean the engine rather well.

Series III deisel and bio fuel

I had heard that there are problems with the rubber used in older engines corroding. The only rubber in the engine I can think of is the hosings which can be changed easily. Any comments?

Series III deisel and bio fuel

Yes but there is nothing that relates directly to using it in a series 3, more about the cost and taxes involved. Top chick by the way!
