Thanks everyone...Had to give up and go to Halfords!!! It was a BMW type and needed more brute force than I dared use! Anyway its off now...would have had to go to Halfords anyway as once it was off, it needed another connector to attach it to new radio....ho hum at least I've got music...

Hi, yes there's a black plastic connector to the back of the radio..it has a picture of a screwdriver to lever it up....did that but still cant see how it comes off the radio, its still attached strongly....real headscratcher!!!
