Thanks Shifty, all makes sense. One more question for now, you make reference to later cylinder heads having been redeisgned so the fuel return galleries are less susceptible to cracking; do you know from which engine number this "improved design" applies? - my engine number is in the 15P series.

I have experienced same symptoms and have had the engine/turbo runaway although managed to stop the engine sharpish. Can anybody explain as per Pommy Pekkie's comments, where the turbo is getting the fuel from - is it unburnt fuel/oil from the oil breather, or has an oil seal gone on the turbo...
