With just brushing though wont you just be sealing in the rust and not watching it rust from the inside of the chassis out? I suppose the least metal contact to air and water is best but I would have thought hours of preparation for this job would be paramount.

I dont see the problem, with that many wild animals I would like to protect a front end that if smashed would probably result in chucking the car and parting it.
