update, I got a surprise call this morning from the workshop to tell me e car is ready and it has a "new" gearbox installed and i can come to collect it. In the second sentence they told me that they heard a noise from the car on the test drive and they have found a problem with the back...

Hi, Update Is the garage have agreed to fit the NEW gearbox in my car and it should be ready the 1st week in January ! Meanwhile my insurance are covering a hire car for me up to the value of £40 per day and then the garage is paying the remainder in order for my to get a "like for like" 4x4...

Thanks for that mate, could be useful. The garage i bought the car from are accepting that they will pay for the job and claim it back from landrover. The problem is that there is an auto gearbox in norway but the garage say that landrover will not pay for a new one only a reconditioned one...

The dealer is doing my gearbox under warranty and might be ready at the end of the week. Believe that if you like!. Keep you posted. They have not told me yet exactly what was wrong with the box.
