    Road Tax...:-(

That'll be the authorities demonstrating "joined up thinking" - not! I reckon the V5 should be the definitive answer, but who can say whether Local Authorities would abide by this. Judging by the rules on our council's Household Waste site, I would need a permit if I had a...

    Road Tax...:-(

As I understand it, the new tax regime applies to all non-commercial vehicles registered on or after 1st March 2001 and is based on the vehicle's CO2 emissions as declared by the manufacturer. Your '98 Disco will be broadly the same as now, with whatever percentage rise the Chancellor has seen...

    Air Suspension Help Required Please

Second that. Recently suffered the same problem with ours. Will almost certainly get worse over time, as ours did. Best checked as soon as you can to remove all doubt. You don't want to be in a position where you overwork the compressor and end up with a much more expensive job on your hands...

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

We're in! Took the breakdown guy just under 5 minutes to "break" in to it. Looks like there might be a broken connecting rod in the door lock, which is why it didn't want to play! As soon as there was "movement" inside the Disco the alarm went off and it responded to the remote fob again...

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

Thanks for the tips guys. It really does seem like the lock is tatered. Tried many times now to put the EKA code in and the Disco is giving me nothing in return. I am a member of a breakdown organisation but didn't really want to go down that road just yet, as I don't want to have to explain...

    1999 TD5 Disco

Early days with ours, but the economy seems fine, especially when towing. Look out for the usual things and you should be okay. As ever, I think condition and history are the main things to consider. Given the age and mileage, you'd be lucky to find something that doesn't have any issues at...

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

Okay, batteries replaced in the remotes. Nothing. Got the Emergency Key Access (EKA) code off the vehicle security card that we had fortunately filed away for safe keeping. Got the correct door lock sequence from Land Rover. (If anyone ever needs it, just PM me and I'll send it to you or post...

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

Cheers Mormond. That'll be the handbook that's locked away in the glove box at the mo! Just replaced the batteries in the remotes (for once I'm in praise of Tesco  ) but nothing doing. Looks like I'll be phoning the main dealer 2moro. Based on previous experience I'm not expecting a...

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

Cheers for the speedy response Yella. Sadly, no lock on the passenger door handle, or the rear door:mad: Will pick up some new batteries for both remotes tomorrow, but they were working fine on Monday when I locked it up.

Help! Locked out of '99 Disco TD5

Help! After a mere 4 weeks of ownership we're locked out of our '99 Disco. The remotes won't work and the key just seems to turn the barrel through 90 degrees in either direction from the upright when I try to unlock/lock using the driver's door lock. It's the only external lock on the...

Rear Wiper/Washer Switch - which wires????

Thanks Grunt. Looks like I've got to find a Brown/light green one in there somewhere. So, if I do find one, that'll be four wires but only three male connectors on the back of the switch. Any ideas what goes where?

Rear Wiper/Washer Switch - which wires????

I've got a wiring query but can't seem to find a decent wiring diagram on the net and I'm awaiting delivery of a Haynes manual. Hope someone can advise. Rear wiper has never worked since we bought our 90 so I thought I'd check it out today. Took out the small panel holding the ciggy lighter...

    Defender for under £1000?

Having just gone through the pain of searching for a cheap(ish) Defender, I'm sorry to say that you might find it a struggle to get anything very decent unless you're lucky enough to come across a desperate seller. The most important advice I think you can have is to to just be patient and...

Any advice on buying a 300 Tdi Disco.......

.......such as DON'T!? Seriously, it looks as though we're about to dip our toe into the wonderful waters of LR ownership. Yep, we fully realise it will bring joy and heartbreak in equal measure. We were looking at a Defender 200 Tdi, as whatever we get is going to be used to...
