I did think of that but a quick look around ebay, they all look like sunroof type roof panels, but yeah that would be preferable, especially as I know my current roof panel has dents in it anyway. Forgive my ignorance, but would an older 2 door roof panel fit my 1990?

How feasible would it be to remove the power sunroof gubbins entirely and weld a blanking plate in place? my vogue SE sunroof currently neither tilts nor slides, though you can see it kind of trying, and having removed the saggy old headling I can see that the cable guide pipes look rotten...
