Thanks for the advice, but I don't think that's the problem, should have said, the smoke is pouring out of the exhaust and the tailpipe has a ring of oil round it, so the engines burning oil (like mad) - could it be a piston ring? Cheers James.

Thanks for the tips chaps, I've done a bit more digging today with some more knowledable friends and found that the heater matrix is shot (b*****ks). So it's booked in tomorrow for a replacement - bugger of a job apparently, dash out etc! Thank god I bought a warranty:D :D :D Cheers James.
