    Farewell for now!

Hi, Sad to say but have got rid of the P38, at 156K miles I needed something a little more reliable. Traded it for a Jaguar 4.2 XJR. Lots of fun although must lower down than the P38. I have sorted through things and have put my Fault mate msv-2 extreme diag system on ebay if anybody is...

AMP & Sat Nav not working after jump start

Hi, I think the satnav is knackered. This happened to me after some local muppets in a garage removed the battery too quick after stopping. Unfortunately I couldn't prove it. Anyway had a blank screen and no control of the volume. The only way forward for me was to unplug the satnav in the...

    Moving from P38 to L322?

Hi, I'm soon going to be looking at changing car. I hope to chop the P38 in against the next model. The question is whether I should look for a low mileage but slightly older or one that is less than 5 years but may have a higher mileage. There seems to be quite a few around but have a higher...

    misfire headache p38 Thor

A local garage did. Something about measuring the hyrdocarbons in the coolant. Don't quote me on that but I'm sure someone in the know will be along to confirm.

    misfire headache p38 Thor

Have you checked that you haven't got the cracked head problem. My Thor P38 has and it runs quite rough for about 20mins first thing, worse on gas, and then is ok? There is some gas test that can be done.

    HEVAC Connectors

Now completely butchered and chocolate blocked but no cheque book symbol on the HEVAC. First time in about 3 years. Turned out after the blend motors where changed with a new set that there was a problem with one of the terminals of the blend motor connector on the back of the HEVAC. Really...

    Windscreen Wiper Arms

You proberaly all know this but... This applies to a P38 2001 model. Don't know about the rest. After a windscreen replacement the drivers side wiper didn't run smoothly. The rubber would scrape if you know what I mean. Tried different blades with difference. Was then told that the arms are...

    HEVAC Connectors

Has anybody managed to release any wires from the connectors on the back of the HEVAC. One of the blend motor wires is ok if the wire is bent down but not in the normal position. I can't see how the connector wire sockets are retained in the housing.

    SRS ECU Problem

Hi, The problem is that the SRS light has come on. This is after the dash was taken out for the blend motors. I've tried to connect to the ECU with Faultmate with no luck. It times out. The supply is there and the coms wire is ok that goes from the SRS ECU to the diagnostic connector. Any...

    Head gasket / liners!

Haven't got a clue but I think coolant in the oil. The engine uses oil quite quickly so it doesn't last long. The oil that is. Cheers

    Becm ?

Turned out to be the following; 1) Broken signal wire from iginition. 2) 2 x corroded pin in multiway connector. A steep learning curve I can tell you.

    Head gasket / liners!

Hi, I've had this problem for the last 40K. Losing coolant as well. Had the gas test done and the engine is toast. Now saving up for replacement

    Becm ?

yes it might come to that. Need to find out whether the problem is BECM related though. I think there may be a wire trapped behind the dash. Fuse 33 supplys the battery of the alarm system as well. This threw me how I could measure +12v on the diagnostic port with no fuse in the fuse box. Cheers
