    Disco 2 SLS pipe leak

Thank you for the tips and advice. I dismantled the pump, removed the exhaust valve, disassembled the pressure relief valve and cleaned and dried everything. The culprit was the pressure relief valve which was not seating. I have cleaned the prv and reassembled. It has maybe 1℅ leakage now. I...

    Disco 2 SLS pipe leak

I have the compressor out of the car and I have bench tested it. There is air coming out of the supply line to the valve block, but it it is weak. This could be because there is also air coming out of the exhaust valve. Does the exhaust valve default to open when de-powered? If not I guess...

    Disco 2 SLS pipe leak

I think I understand a little bit more about the system then. So what you are suggesting is that leaking pipework will result in near immediate collapse of the airbags, therefore ALL the valving is at the compressor end? I will remove the light as you suggested when it stops raining and test again.

    Disco 2 SLS pipe leak

Hi all, after searching many sls related topics, most pertaining to airbag, height sensor, SLABS, compressor issues, I am left unanswered... Just yesterday I noticed the ride getting softer and softer. The back end had not noticeably sagged. I pressed the off road button and the light kept...

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Making progress. I have now replaced all the filters and oil. I have also replaced the boost modulator which has made a difference. I also replaced the injector harness. There was a tiny amount of oil in the red plug so I cleaned it several times over a 24 hour period while some more...

MAYDAY Can you lock a D2 into 2WD for emergency?

Thanks folks, diff is locked and rebuild kit is on its way to NZ from the UK. I still can't believe how badly collapsed the UJ on the cardan joint is! There were no unusaual clunks or groans while driving....

MAYDAY Can you lock a D2 into 2WD for emergency?

As per title. I have one day to get my D2 mobile so I can get to work as Wife has gone away for the weekend with the spare car! Its a 2000 TD5 and I was underneath doing the oil change and inspected the front prop and Holy S**t one of the UJs is so flogged I can't believe it hasn't exploded...

What mileage is your Disco 2 on?

285,000km and no funny noises! Only one or two minor niggles at present.

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

I quite agree. I would save for a Nanocom before saving for a re map anyway. Does anyone know what the output should be (in volts) from the ambient pressure sensor in the airbox on a 15 deg day at sea level? This is the one sensor I'd like to avoid having to replace since it costs more than...

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Indeed. Also early non-flashable ECU. There is a Superchip agent in NZ, or else postal re- chip to Alive tuning. Would cost a lot and I'd be without the car for a couple of weeks.... No idea how much Superchips cost here.

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Definitely engine, though the gearbox programming, torque converter, and age don't help. I have a service kit and 12 litres of full synthetic dex 3 to go in at some point. I did find a [I]little[I] oil in the red plug and none inside the ECU. The p.o. claims the loom was done but I am assuming...

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Seem OK. Was having another play earlier. I had her at a steady 1600ish rpm while looking at Maf signal and I noticed the engine rocking on its mounts a bit. Is it possible to have an occasional miss without illuminating the check engine light? BTW. It's auto. I know they're a bit slower...

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Probably sound advice. I don't quite have the money to shell out on a Nanocom right now but it would be a great investment I'm sure. What does it take to illuminate the check engine light? Even unplugging the MAF didn't do it!

A glacier moves faster than my TD5

Hi all. I have been reading countless threads on sluggish TD5's and it made me bold enough to buy a new Siemens/VDO MAF from Island 4x4. Fitting this has made no difference. I have a OBD scanner but they are useless on these cars. I can however view throttle position in live data. I thought I...

TD5, how gutless are they really

Can't get a much better comparison than from a bloke who has both. What about in a drag race? (so to speak) are they both auto?

TD5, how gutless are they really

I ask because I went to check one out yesterday to replace our aging Isuzu Bighorn (trooper 3.1TD) I was expecting similar or slightly better performance as the trucks weigh about the same but the Landy is 25hp and 80nm better off. The Disco I looked at is also a spring chicken at a mere...

    Manual v Auto? Diesel v V8LPG?

I love manuals but yesterday I test drove a manual 300Tdi and there is no way the wife would be able to drive one smoothly. I thought the power characteristics actually suited an auto better as there was a big hole until you got 1800rpm on the clock and it seemed very high geared too. Fine on...
