Hi it maybe the map ( manifold absoloute pressure ) sensor this signals the gearbox to change gear to suit the engine revs, mine failed about 3 months ago couldnt get into top gear, and was messing up the kickdown etc. spoke to a local mechanic who said tht bmw 5 series suffered a similar...
