    Clutch problem?!!

Nice, thanks for that. I will have a good look later tonight! I've been driving it around without any problem so far. There was one occasion when the clutch only came up halfway a couple of times, but then slowly came back up. As I don't normally drive it I'm not sure if that is normal for it or...

    Clutch problem?!!

is there any easy way to detect if that is the problem? As in, the garage didn't detect it, so how can I!? Baring in mind it occured about 4 minutes down the road from home, the car wasn't very warm. Should I take in on a long drive to see if it happens again?!

    Clutch problem?!!

A couple of days ago, my girlfriends Freelander wouldn't get into gear. Unfortunately for her this was 8.30 on a friday morning in a busy road in the middle of guildford. She says that it wouldn't get into any gear and eventually she started pumping the clutch pedal and got it into first, and...

To the girl with the Freelander with dodgy clutch

Whoa, I was just about to post as my girlfriend has a dodgy clutch on her Freelander. Dunno where Grattan is, but we're in guildford! It could've been her...but then it could've been somebody else! Anyways, I'll post in the freelander forum....cheers!

HDC and TC light coming on!

HDC and TC light coming on!

Cool, thanks Mark, I'll have a look under there this weekend!

HDC and TC light coming on!

Ah I did search for hdc and got no results in the search. But I should've looked further. Silly me - I should've guessed most Freelander faults are common ones!! :)

HDC and TC light coming on!

Hi guys - anyone experienced their hill descent control and traction control light coming on randomly? I'm not sure if it's just the lights or the actual system coming on - but it's a bit disconcerting when they come on, but then they seem to go off again after a few minutes. Anybody know why...

    Fitting Side Steps

No - I did it on a hot day, which wasn't too pleasant. But I wouldn't do it on a wet day either!! I'm sure there must be better tools out there but I couldn't be arsed to go to B&Q halfway through the task of putting them on.

    Fitting Side Steps

I got a tool with mine which was basically a piece of metal with a hole in it! But basically you pop one of the rivet nuts into the hole with a bolt in it. As you turn the bolt the rivet nut collapses and gets fatter and fills the hole. I found it difficult as when it got too tight, the rivet...

    Fitting Side Steps

Yeah when I fitted mine it was a bit of a 'mare. I didn't lift it up but I'm quite small, but getting the angles to get the rivets in was difficult. Maaan those rivets are difficult to get it!! Also mine aren't official steps - but I like em. Although the back of the step rubs a little against...

    Silver indicator bulbs

Has anybody tried these? I bought some and just tried them out, but they don't appear to flash as brightly as the normal orange ones. Obviously I'm concerned about safety if they don't shine as brightly as orange ones - but maybe just that I bought the cheaper ones off ebay, instead of the more...

    Side steps

Cool ok - which stainless steel sides with black tops with rubber are you referring to? i've been looking on ebay but there's so many I'm just trying to suss which would be best!

    Side steps

Can those with side steps give me some advice - most of the ones I've seen are metal - they just look like they will be ultra slippery and dangerous when wet. Is that the case or not? I prefer the look of metal ones, but was wondering if it was best to get rubber topped ones for safety!

Replace Cam belt with head gasket?

This might not give you a black and white answer, but we just had our head gasket replaced (28k miles) and the LR dealer recommended that we get the belt changed at the same time, so we did....but at extra cost to the head gasket replacement of course.

    Argh head gaskets gone!!

One thing that worried me, is they said they won't be replacing the plastic rods to metal ones which I'd heard is the culprit for the HG going. They said that these 'mods' whatever they are, should solve the problem. Any idea if that's right or not?!

    Argh head gaskets gone!!

It's Hunters in Guildford - hopefully should get the car back this week. Will post up a list of the things they've done to it when I get it

    Argh head gaskets gone!!

Well, well, well - got a call from LR yesterday to tell us they're going to pay for it 100%!! hardly putting up a fight they're going to pay for all of it. SUCH a relief. although they say they won't warranty it, as they're paying for all of it, but we're going to try and contribute to paying it...

    Argh head gaskets gone!!

We don't have a sunroof, so that should be ok! Looking forward to those problems if we can get the damn engine working! If LR don't pay out, and we take it to somebody else, I reckon they're going to try and sting us for the time they've taken to look at it...grrrr
