    Time To Say Goodye.....

Well, after 4 years of owning my Freebifter I've waved goodbye to her when she sold last week. Got an absolute pittance for her but when it's tiem to change, you just gotta bite the bullet. Am sad in some ways but I know in the long term it's the right decision. Soooo, It's a massive thanks...

    Clunk when I wellie it..

I'd say its the rear diff mount also, I had the same problem for a couple of months before replacing it and it resolved it. Cost around £15 for the part and is a half hour job.

Looks like this one is sorted thanks Guys. After stripping down the steering column I found that if I waggle the ignigtion switch i can either fix or unfix the problem. I'm 99.9% certain that's what it is and at 12 quid plus VAT for a new one I'm happy to give it a go. Oddly enough when I...

At least the new car tax wasnt as high as it could have been

Yep, This is another classic case of mis-reporting by the press to scare people away from buying 4X4's. The new tax bracket only covers cars manufactured after march 06 so all of you (us) with older ones can breath a sigh of relief although it will go up a tenner this year and 5 quid for each...

And the more I think about it, the problem started very soon after she was serviced. I trust my mechanic as he's a good friend of mine. Could it be that something has been knocked during the service?

    Delay in starting...

Aye, I've checked all the basics and removed fuses that could be the issue but finally she has just given an indication of what could be the problem. Whilst messing about with her I heard a little click as I tried to start her. Def a click from the starter as if it's stuck. After repeated...

Thanks for the advice Ming, I've had a look at the fuses and they appear in order. With the relays I've swapped them around where possible based on their rating and again this hasn't made any difference. Could it be the starter motor? I tend to think not as when it's not working it doesn't...

She's a 2000 (W) XEI Hardback. She does have leathers which I fitted myself some time ago but they are not heated. It's a bit of a strange one this one really!

    Delay in starting...

Hi Guys & Gals. I knew things were too good to be true when I went several weeks without anything going wrong with the Freebifter. Anyway, this weeks new trick is to not start. I unlock her with the remote and everything appears OK, apart from when I turn the key to start she is acting like...

    Baby For Sale

I did think about that but given the low mileage I do (about 5000 a year) and most are short journeys I generally don't get the engine hot!!!

Anybody know when the For Sale section is gonna be up and running? With a great amount of sadness I've decided to get rid of my Freebifter but don't want to incur the wrath of you all by posting an advert on this forum. This is the tastefully modified one seen in my avatar. If anybody...

    Emergency Help - Immobiliser Stuck

PROBLEM SOLVED. Turns out the remote recevier located on top of the speedo had become disconnected so no matter what I did with the fobs it would never have worked. Glad I found it before a dealer decided to charge me an hours labour and the £35 standard charge for re-synchronising the...

    Emergency Help - Immobiliser Stuck

It is indeed a pre 01 model. I'm trying to get a conclusive answer to my problem, are we saying that in the first instance I should disconnect the battery and upon re-connecting try to the re-sync procedure? Failing that are we saying it's a trip to a dealership to have my leg lifted by the...

    Emergency Help - Immobiliser Stuck

I've been pressing the buttons on the remote fob till my fingers go numb but with no luck. They do absolutely nothing, the only way I can unlock or lock her is with the key. Will removing the battery and re-connecting make any difference? The book also babbles on about putting the key in...

    Emergency Help - Immobiliser Stuck

Guys and Gals, I need some help on a problem with my Freebifter. I've had some work done on it recently during the course of which the immobiliser has been armed and now refuses to come off. It's that bad the garage had to bring it back on a low loader and drop it on my driveway!!! Anyway...
