Any advice for novice welder about to stitch new rear cross member to 90 chassis?

Very good question, my gut says you will have to come from above, I vaguely remember my chap had fuel tank supports etc to replace whilst he did it so there must be space, I think the rear CM curves down at the point they replace it.

Roll cage to support expedition roof rack?

You are wise to be concerned and query. Imagine if 2/3 of the weight were at the front on one side it would be on 1 support on the gutter really. But you are also right the feet you have are wider than a lot out there. I would take some pictures and then keep an eye on it and keep checking...

Roll cage to support expedition roof rack?

All good points..... Keep in mind when you are sleeping only "some" weight is on the roof as the ladder supports a lot of it. I would in order. 1. Support the rack fully along the gutter 2. Get as light a rack as possible 3. Even the load on the rack which is helped by 1. I have seen a few...

    Diesel/petrol mixed fuel

I believe you can separate them if you want to..... When I cleaned out my tank (Petrol) and I had waste oil which I stored in the same container, I took mine to the tip and they said to just dump it in the waste oil tank which scared the **** out of me but I did it. I have also just left it in...

Why are parts so crap these days?

Its the same everywhere :(... .I am restoring a 45 year old classic and the reproduction parts are ****e..... with the exception of rubber which perishes over time the seals, o rings and fittings from the original vehicle re-fitted are better than the newly made ones. A truly scary thought...

Tricky to answer, what spec is it ? I am sure you can sell privately and get most if not all of what you paid back... It also depends on your situation, if you really like the car, can afford to do it up, it all depends what that spec car is worth value wise. When all the repairs are done Is...

Lots quote per job and add it up, I had BMW knock 399 off as I argued the car was up on a lift for x and y already with front off so the price for z wasn't valid or fair.

Look at it this way, by the time you get that stuff done you will have a perfect vehicle, Quick check on autotrader there are plenty of folk asking 10-12k for FL2's but most seem to be 3-7k, so I wouldn't worry too much. Whats the mileage ? I suspect most of those 3-7 k ones will require...

Driving 1700 miles Altrincham to Estepona Spain in 90 2015

Everything he says..... we drove to Spain in a 92 110, didnt skip a beat tbh, Make sure you have the basics, UJ's etc and get some rescue tape, its a quick fix for any hoses which burst rather than trying to take all the hoses. Take it easy and stop lots...

    Chassis advice

What he said, you are going to need to do it eventually and there is such good access to so many things when you get the floor up and ready for the outrigger. Definitely don't let an outrigger be your first welding attempt though :) If you can get on a course or even DIY video it I see no...
