Mine is exmoor, & i dont have any issues with it, the metal work around the door tops & screen needed a bit of tweeking, but what doesn't on a series ? It doesn't leak !
The top switch fail fault relates to large capacitors inside the ecu which are used to fire the injectors, i reckon you need to at least get the ecu tested & will probably need a replacement !
Repair the outside with liquid metal, then search for something called a timesert (ebay or decent nut & bolt type place) far superior repair than any helicoil & has the advantage of being solid rather than a helicoil , which is a bit like a spring in that it has gaps between the threads.
R12 (old gas) has a thread on the outside of the connector
R134A (newer gas) does not have a thread on the connector
Would have thought you would have R134a on a 95 year vehicle but not definite.
Before you go taking the head off, you need to take the exhaust manifold off & check the core plug in the side of the head isn't leaking, could be a very easy fix, I have known these to leak, even had one come in that was only finger tight !!
Early TD5s had plastic dowels to keep the head in place, once it has overheated these dowels melt & go out of shape, allowing the head to move slightly & cause the gasket to leak, this is the most likely cause of your problem.
Have all the injectors gone back into the original cylinders they came out from ? Each injector is coded to its specific cylinder & can only be changed with diagnostic equipment .
I have fitted the 40mm kit to one of my freelanders, the inner wings still need modifying to clear the steering arms, I also had to modify the front hubs where the struts bolt on in order to get the camber right & make it drive like a normal one.
