ok had a eleccy guy look at it ....said was blowing a fuse in drivers footwell everytime it tried to start, said he was getting intermittint readings when he was testing it, an it was a bad earth on the starter so fiited a new un thru one of the bolts to the chassis ...starts first time now

cool my disco has no edc (that i'm aware of) it had a throttle cable'd injection pump on already (the one with the 3 wires outta the top) fitted new engine yesterday an going to go connect up pipes, wires an other bits shortly,i'd been toild already by a geezer the sensor in the head was for the...

my disco has a temp sensor in the head, 300tdi 1996, i'm doing an engine change atm an the engine i'm fitting has no sensor fitted, was wondering if anyone has any ideas if i need this temp sensor? will my disco be fine without it?? thanks guys:confused:

ty mate its what i needed to hear :) man i've had 6 months of mis diagnosis on a failing piston arm ..till it screwed my last block...had a spare engine out of a decent donor car but this pump thing had me beat

hi again...swapping the engine in my 96 discovery for another 300tdi ,it seems my discovry has an immobilliser i'm guessin thats what the wires on the injector pump are...the engine i'm gonna fit has just a single white wire coming out of the pump....so i'm wondering if i can just fit the whole...

kk thanks for replys my injector pump has the throttle cable on just a few wires coming in the top guess for the immobiliser then... so no need to change the pump rite?

hey all...i'm changing the engine in my disco, but the engine i am removing has a few wires coming outta the top of the injector pump an the engine i'm fitting doesn't....do i just change the pump over? or is there an easier fix? also the bolts at the top of the bell housing is there an easy way...

ok ....today found out what was causing the smoke...was cylinder no.4 the arm had snapped an the piston was flappin about...big crack in the block....so time to pop a new engine in got a decent 1 i put away a while back just needs a few things swapping over

thanks for your help mate, sorry bout the late reply, been busy over xmas, i`m gonna get the injectors tested in the new year see where its at after that....
