    ok..after a lot of forum hopping i reckon its the IRD thats shot,and possibly VCU. would removing the rearpropshaft make any difference to the horrible banging/scraping noise from the IRD till i can source another? kinda beginning to regret selling me disco now :(

    ok, a wee bit more info...as i have been driving it for a few days now im more inclined to think its the clutch. it definately seems rev related,and when sometimes at idle theres a slight rythmical "rattle" that dissapears when the clutch is depressed.any ideas folks?

    Hi ratty,seems to happen most when coming down gears quickly for round a bouts ect,it hust totaly refuses to select 2nd or 1st,crunching 'orribly!! have to let the revs totaly drop ,declutch a couple of times reselect gear and of it goes..people were loving me throwin up roadblocks on the middle...

    well decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and buy a '92 200tdi.. exhaust is blowing,front shocks are fooked, bodywork in surpisingly good nick. got it for 200 quid-the guy threw in 2 brand new shocks springs turrets and rings,new exhaust,2 alloys with new tyres and a couple of part worns.only...
