    Vent Handles

hey folks, In the ongoing saga of restoring my defender, I have these corroded vent covers. I can sand and repaint them but how the hell do you get the vent handle off? I can see the rest of it but there is no machine screw or allen fitting there. How do you get the damn thing off? Justus

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

I liked the soft top too, looked meaner that way. However I have to admit, that old fashioned split screen and the retro curved corner windows are very, very cool. Plus, the A/C works soooo much better with that hard top. Also, my next assignment will almost certainly be in Russia so better...

Fair enough, I uploaded pictures (before and after) here Land Rover Zone - PolymerChemist's Album: Qatar Military 1990 Defender

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

Just a follow up on this thread. I spent the last couple of days with a clueless but enthusiastic bunch of Sudanese/Egyptian/Indian "mechanics" . They did a great job on painting and otherwise restoring the '77 series hardtop. By replacing the windshield with the '77 split windshield...

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

So you can understand why I don't want to spend half of Saturday roasting in a junkyard in the Doha industrial zone if I won't get a top that will fit. I realize the split windscreen some folks don't like but it looks good to me and would be worth the trouble of installing if it allows the top...

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

The interior of a hard top can be insulated and doesn't have 100 holes for the air to escape. The volume is the same, I am talking about a drivers cabin hard top, not one that extends to the end of the bed. Just the same as the current top, but not cloth. This isn't such an issue in the UK...

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

But what if I changed out both the top and the windscreen. Would it work in that case?

    Defender/Series Top Interchange

Hi Everyone, I have a 1990 military fleet model Defender 110. Picture attached. It has a soft top that I want to change out for a hard top as the newly installed AC is not efficient with a sort top. I found a 1977 Series pick-up in a junk yard that has a top in very good shape. It looks...

    Military Model, Tailgate

Hi Folks, This is about my military fleet model defender 110, 1990 soft top pickup. On the tailgate are several fittings that I have no clue what they are for. See red question marks in photo. I will remove them if they turn out to be useless military specific gewgaws but would like to...

    Military model, headlamp switch

Hi Folks, Sorry I was away and didn't catch the steampunk discussion. For those that have never heard of it, it is a design concept and for nerdier folks, a role playing game concept. I am into the design portion. See this page The Steampunk Workshop | Technology and Romance -...

    Military model, headlamp switch

Inspection lights. That is useful to know. Banana plugs are common and I could use a work/interior light that can be put away when not in use. The military (map light) that is installed is near useless. No insights on the dial setting abbreviations? Justus

    Military model, headlamp switch

Hi Everyone, This is my first time on this forum so nice to be here. I have a 1990 Defender 110, decommissioned from the Qatari military. love the Beast. I am starting on doing a steampunk customizing on the the interior and have a question on the headlamp switch. It has an old style...
