Ive just taken it round the block and run it through the different heights again and there is still a difference but only about 2-3cm now. I guess the height sensors may need calibrating if thats possible?

£1700 buys you a cheap usually very high mileage P38 which probably needs the same amount again if not more spending on it. I have just bought a 2.5DSE and it's not as badly underpowered as some people suggest but it can be noticably sluggish in certain situations especially with the auto box...

Why do you need to leave the ignition on with the lights for 15 mins? 30 Amps sounds about right with the headlamps and ignition on position 2 (both heater motors will probably be going aswell).

The battery terminals should be tight, you should not be able to twist them. If they are as tight as the nut will go try loosening the bolt tap the terminal on a little further and re-tighten. As for the cooling system what you describe sounds fine. the system is made to run under pressure...

I replaced the n/s/f airspring, swapped the wheels front to rear, checked the brakes, fitted a hot start timer relay gizmo thingy from ebay, added some fuel injection cleaner and slick 50, took out the ignition barrell lubed it up and refitted it, cleaned it then went for a drive :)

how high did the temperature go up before you put your foot on the gas pedal and it came down again?

I might give the tape thing a go as I already have an FM transmitter and it's rubbish. Not sure I want to do away with the original head unit unless I can find something thats compatible with the steering controls and cd multichanger.

Just an update Ive just fixed the fault. All I did was disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnected it and everything works as it should. Disconnecting the battery did set off the alarm though so be prepared for the noise. Just be carefull to make sure the car is unlocked, alarm is not...
