does sound like your tracking is out adjust it then if it still pulls under braking then its a brake problem as well .when the wheels are pointing dead straight ahead does the steering wheel sit central thats how i adjusted mine after fitting a track rod end and it seems fine no tyre wear.you...

they are more like a tractor gearbox,i,m going to put molyslip in mine when i do the servise it does help a little bit,had a car with really nothchy gearbox put molyslip in and it helped it. i put engine oil in the box on my racer but wouldnt recomend that for road driving

mine clunks when changing gear but its never got any worse from 3rd to 4th. does it make a noise when the engine is running and in neautral and you put your foot on the clutch?

thanks for the welcome fishface your right about the tinkering bit,ive got to put 4 new disc's and pads all round .new cambelt which i'm not looking forward to and had to have the alarm disconnected and its taken the central locking with it $$ i suppose .not really done any offroading in it...
