hope they sort it... had the same problem myself a couple of months ago - a real bugger to convince them that there was really something wrong!!! fortunately as i tried to drive it away from the dealer, it played up and i could get them to run a diagnostic there and then.

most likely to be the cam sensor (crank sensor v unlikely to go on V6). the garage has to catch the car when the sensor is failing (therefore immobilising the engine). once the engine starts, the sensor error is cleared.. this, of course makes it v difficult to diagnose it from cold as...

glad they sorted it. $2300 not funny at all. have a search on inlet manifold in these forums - a recent post referred to an apparently cheap alternative (not LR part, but maybe Holden(Vauhall/GenMotors) equivalent... cheers d

hi jenny, if you buy from a dealer the set normally comes as a whole. the 'rails' fit securely to the Freelander, but the only way it is usable is to get the two cross-bars, which form the 'rack' part of the complete ensemble. without these, you can't secure enything to it! these also lock onto...

i'm curious too. although i wouldn't want to do anything that might reduce the mileage i'm likely to get out of the engine - want this car to be with me for the next two years, and there are a lot of places i want to visit!
