Thank you both for your replies. The box appears to be leaking from the drop arm seal as you suggested. My local LR dealer says LR allow only 2 hours to change the box and also that the seal kits are successful. I will endeavour to get the genuine fluid and keep topping up until I can summon...

Can anyone talk me through this please. I'm really too old to be scratching around under bonnets now but I have a feeling this could be an expensive issue. Where do I start? Is the fan left hand thread? What am I most likely going to find? Do I really have to use the Texaco fluid they say...

No - the button on the dash does the same as the remote.
