thanks for the replies guys.it was checked by a local mechanic,who's as puzzled as i am.it turns over as normal,but just doesn't catch.i've had the car a year and prior to this it was fine,ran great and with no probs at all.i'm thinking of getting a mobile diagnostic guy out to at least point me...

thanks tugumafu.just a quick update,had it checked out today and there's petrol at the engine,so the pump's ok,there's a big fat spark,so that's ok,we've got compression and the cambelt's been checked and is also ok,so basically we're totally stumped so i hope one of you guys can help.
