change your glow plugs; mine was the same; all fixed now.

Its' your glow plugs; had identical problem 2 months ago; change them (takes about an hour) and she'll be right.:)

agreed ; deffo the reg; thing is change it ASAP; mine went all of a sudden; bent itself and event split part of its own metal plate; couldnt even shut the window!!
