I have just had exactly the same problem. I was doing 50 Mph, and slowly my 300TDI lost power. I had to change down gear to prevent stalling. I managed on get home but at 15 Mph, in third gear and my foot flat down on the accellerator. I started her after half an hour and all was OK again...
