I have full intention on keeping the car for the long run. As it has very good bones with no corrosion on it so the solution wasn't too be long term reliability with it being my only vehicle.

My 2.2 defender was burning oil and smoking heavily until the engine ran away and after it had stopped the engine will not restart and was knocking heavily. And I just want to know what would be the best course of action going forward. As I am aware that lots of the rebuilt engines are done...
