Apologies, it is on my Mk1, but agreed, it could be on numerous Landies. Plot thickens a little. The black and white pair are closed with key in 1, 2 & 3 but not 0 so that makes sense for key in sensor. Guessing I can just solder those together? The orange/white and red/white pair are open...

Ah, sorry. I thought you were going to have the lighter on a separate switch (like mine is). Re-read your first post and got it now. perhaps a feed from the ignition (so it is def off with the key out) then going through the high beam switch? Nodge seems to know best?

Get a multimeter out and find the 12V live at the ignition key? Run a line from that?

Kenyan car prices are high, you might get more for them here, than they would be worth in the UK?
