I know it says in the manual to take the fan shroud off the rad before removing it. But I found that with a little care it's possible to lift out the rad with the shroud still attached! Once you've got the rad out of the vehicle and you can get a screwdriver on the shroud at a sensible angle...

If you're ears don't bleed it's not a Landy! Seriously though, 4th shouldn't be any noisier than the other gears. So it sounds like you may have a developing gearbox problem. Having said that though, every one is different!

I'll go along with what Buckle says. I've got a similar problem myself at the mo. Definitely sounds like its the fault of the drive in the gearbox to me. I wonder how you get the little plastic socket out to replace it. I've also got the added problem of an overdrive being in the way!
