When I get the time and space to do my triumph triple top end I will be getting a local engineering firm to make me up some ARP style dual thread studs to replace the standard stretch bolts.

After he'd stood for ages he started first turn of the key last weekend and behaved faultlessly taking 4 plus luggage on a comfortable 250 mile round trip waft to Gloucester for my uncle's funeral.

Think he'd have been handling weirdly with wheelspin, and this was on the bigger, clearer roads. Took him to get bird food, have lunch and shop today, still staying in sync at all speeds. Pleasant, but makes me wonder what other mischief he's concocting instead.

Used him for the dentist, garden centre and BIL run yesterday. So secure and easy on the rutted sideroad ice. Tore the 4 seasons cover slightly when wrestling it off, it had frozen slightly to the roof. Going to need thawing and some tape as a temporary patch on it. It was like trying to move a...

Not everywhere. We had it bad at new year, a few miles up the road an elevated section of canal collapsed. Look online for Bridgewater canal collapse. I suspect they will find it was a combination of the sodden ground, wind and big trees moving along with water pressure from the Bollin culvert...

Snowed here again but melting reasonably. Traffic reports look like chaos so suspect I'll be digging Otto out of his cover for the trip to the chiro and BILs today, just in case. The fusion spins the wheels far too easily just in the wet. Let alone ice and slush. If you don't use the 4x4 in...

Faultless 160 miles round trip to see my parents in Yorkshire. Super comfortable and reassuring in the fog. Still averaged 21.4mpg and 49mph according to the computer, although just getting off the drive it dropped to 4mph and 9.5mpg!

Don't assume the MAF is duff. Try cleaning it. I did Otto's (4.0 V8) by blocking the sensor outlets with cotton wool, standing it on end with that downwards and pouring isopropyl alcohol down the sensor intake. Left it to soak/ evaporate for an hour, removed the cotton wool and gave a quick...

Otto did us proud, stable and comfortable wafting for 350 miles over 3 days, including central town traffic for a bit, doing 47mph and 21.3mpg average. Then the 1.5 miles home from the petrol station averaged 12.9mpg... Taillight bulb had blown, rear wiper is poor as barely seems to make glass...

Otto took us to Watford in steady comfort, averaging according to the computer 56mph and 22.3mpg for 170 miles. Low screen wash warning as we arrived and intermittent left tail light failure warning so suspect just a loose bulb.

Spare blade to use in ignition if the door lock swallows the key? Presume the immobilizer is turned off. At least then you can start and move, even if the key is in the lock. Maybe tether the door key so you don't lose it if the lock then lets go...

Drove him to the MOT this morning in the wet, but not as bad traffic as expected. Passed, few advisories as expected on a 27 year old beast but nothing critical. Drove him home at about 40mph on fast wipe feeling like he was underwater.

Otto's trailer socket appears to be wired in on crimped fittings in the right rear, below where the loom goes to the tailgate and driver side rear lamp connection. I've never needed to delve into the left trim yet.

Otto's lighter socket is definitely switched - '97 P38. I linked in to the permanent live for the release in the lower tailgate and put an earth to a bolt back there for my trickle connection.

Otto lives on the trickle charger due to resting for weeks between runs usually. But easy enough with the extension reel from the outside socket so we can also run the dehumidifier in him. Extension lead runs in between the tailgate sections much like Backinblack's magnetic link.

When Otto's pump started to fail, some sturdy whacks on the tank support bracket with a wrench or length of 4x2 would get it going again and when running he was then okay.
