Ok, problem solved. Seller has lost both keys, his wife always filled up apparently. I have put a screw through the cap. Some of the comments frankly racist. I’m disappointed. I thought Landrover community was supposed to be classless, I had not expected it to be racist.

I have bought immaculate defender TD5 , but no key for fuel cap. Tried to pick lock, tried to use flat head screw driver. Several YouTube videos showing how to drill through outer cap and threading a screw to lock 2 components together - but not on a defender. Looks as if it should work. Anyone...
